My name is Kat, I live in Hermosa Beach which is in Los Angeles, CA (holla!). I am a professional working woman that is 31 (+10 years) and in effort for a create an outlet of creativity for myself, I decided to write a blog to discuss my adventures I go on and the outfits I wear.
In High School I experimented a lot with sewing my own clothes. I made a lot of dresses and rompers- I love the ease and simplicity of wearing them. I was drawn to a lot of flowers and pretty feminine patterns. To this day I still love wearing them. There was a time in my life I wanted to be a fashion designer. But that wasn't in the cards for me. I ended up in financial services doing sales and I love it! I wear a lot of suits and it tends to get boring. I try to mix some of my personality with my attire and at the same time I shoot for professionalism. Sometimes it can be a challenge.
How did I start renting clothes? I had my sisters rent their bridesmaids dresses from RentTheRunway first when I got married a couple of years ago. It was a service I had heard of through friends and decided to let my sisters be the guinea pig on the service before I tried it. Plus- I wanted a cheap way for my sisters dresses for my wedding but still have a beautiful dress. They had a great time with choosing their dresses and they loved the experience and the service of it all that I started rented dresses for big events like trips to Las Vegas, weddings, etc. I can't get enough of RTR. I love them so much!
The begining of 2016 I listened to the book "The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up" by Marie Kondo. Since then I've been minimizing my life and my closet. I got to the point where I was left with all of my favorite pieces which I wore all the time. I wore them so much I got bored of them. I tried shopping to bring in a few more pieces but I found myself having a hard time spending the money on items I may (and will) get bored of in a few months. Thankfully RTR has an Unlimited program and I signed up for that in the summer of 2016. From there I found LeTote, Rocksbox and Switch. Now I no longer buy clothes and jewelry; I rent my clothes and jewelry!
This blog will take you through my journey of my #RentedFashion. I pay for all the subscriptions myself- I am not a paid sponsor for any of these services so everything I blog about will be my true and honest feedback.
I'm constanly looking for the next clothing and accessory rental to try. If you know if one- let me know!
